CRITICAL WILDLIFE HABITAT

Land Mitigation, L.L.C. expects approval in July 2007 of approximately 279 acres of uplands and wetlands in Barnegat Township and Stafford Township, Ocean County by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Land Use Regulation and Division of Fish and Wildlife for use in mitigating impacts to Critical Wildlife Habitat under New Jersey’s Coastal Zone Management Rules for CAFRA and Upland Waterfront Development Permit Applications.  The subject properties are also in proximity to Little Egg Harbor Township and Ocean Township in Ocean County and Bass River Township and Woodland Township in Burlington County.

Review of the NJDEP’s Version 2 of I-Map indicates the properties contain suitable habitat for Barred Owl, Pine Barrens Tree Frog, Cope’s Gray Tree Frog, Corn Snake, Northern Pine Snake, and Timber Rattlesnake.  In addition, I-Map lists the area as suitable habitat for Department’s Bird Priority Species and Herptile Priority Species.

WETLAND MITIGATION

Land Mitigation, L.L.C. has commenced the process to gain all appropriate approvals for an approximate 80 acre parcel in Dennis Township, Cape May County on a tributary to the Tuckahoe River.  Given the property’s location, it appears to be an excellent location for freshwater wetland mitigation in the Tuckahoe River Basin for portions of Upper and Dennis Townships in Cape May County, Buena Vista, Corbin City, Estelle Manor and Weymouth Townships in Atlantic County, and Maurice River Township in Cumberland County and has potential as a regional mitigation site for government entities.

The NJDEP I-Map Version 2 lists the surrounding area as suitable habitat for Barred Owl.  In addition, I-Map lists the surrounding area as Forested Wetlands Suitable, Herptile Priority Species Suitable, and Bird Priority Species Suitable.
